When We Were Young It Seemed That Life Was So Wonderful....

Back in the 80s we had big hair and weird clothes but we all thought we looked good even though looking at those pictures now make us cringe.  The 80s gave us the Brat Pack and music we thought would last forever.  But then along came the 90s and we no longer wanted to “tumble for ya” or even feel “like a virgin”.  Instead we got “totally crossed out” and even worse.  So follow me on that trip down 90s music memory lane and maybe, if you are anything like me, you’ll ask yourself “WTF?” Now please note these are in no particular order more or less just listed as they popped into my head.  Now for the record I have nothing against the artist themselves because hey they made their money and we thank them for the entertainment.  My comments either pertain to their attire in the videos they chose to make or the damn annoying song itself or hey sometimes both.  So we shall explore the randomness that is my list after the jump.
Oh yes....

1.   Kriss Kross – Jump
First off, what is up with dude’s eyebrows?  But aside from that why the hell would you want to wear your clothes backwards especially if you are a guy??  That just can’t be hygienic at all.  I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when they had to piss just so I could laugh as they struggled to find the buttons on their jeans!  I have no doubt that this video probably inspired the saggy pants craze that still persists today.

2.   Ini Kamoze -  Here Comes the Hotstepper
What the hell is he saying??  I will admit that they song gave me guilty pleasure back then but when it was used in a movie (Ready to Wear) it went from cute to how the hell does this fit.  I know better than to question the movie industry gods but come on sometimes you just have to wonder.

3.   Snow – Informer
Do I even have to say anything?  I think Jim Carrey (second video by the way) said enough when he did his parody on In Living Color.  The best part of this is neither MC Shan nor Snow had much of a career once Vanilla Ice got roasted.  Speaking of Vanilla Ice…
4.   Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby
Wow, to even admit you liked this song now is like asking to be picked on.  But come on we all know we thought he was the shit until… he got busted in a few lies the number one lie being his nonexistent street cred.  I always wondered myself who dressed him but hey maybe that was just me.
5.   MC Hammer – U Can’t Touch This
Please Hammer take off those pants!!  And bicycle shorts really??  Well now he is singing you can’t spend this or I better preach this.  Nothing against the man really because he sure could dance but he should have taken accounting 101 it might have saved his ass in the end.
6.   Hanson – MmmBop
Mmm…NOT!!  Oh man I have no idea where these boys came from but I was glad as hell when they went back.
7.   Nelson – Love & Affection
Gunnar, Matthew, I CAN live without this damn song!  Riding high on being the sons of Ricky Nelson this was one of the most overplayed songs I ever heard.  To this day I can’t hear this song and not mock it and then there was the nice big bushy rock star hair we all know and love.  Props for being musically inclined like their father but the not came from the clichéd song.
8.   Michael Jackson – Black or White
Now before I get murdered in my sleep let me say I absolutely LOVE Michael Jackson and cried my heart out when he died.  He was truly a brilliant man and artist but I would be remiss not to include this song.  I know he was probably talking about racial equality but that is sooooooooooo not the way it came across.  You’re black Mike you are indeed black trust me! :-)
9.   Color Me Badd – I Wanna Sex You Up
Now I will admit I had a CMB cd as we probably all did but it was only later when I heard BSB that I realized CMB was probably the start of the boy band craze.  Well Color You Replaced with a cuter more popular and more marketable version, take your pick BSB or N’Sync, they BOTH had a longer run than you did.
10. Ricky Martin – Living La Vida Loca
Well now he’s living la vida broke-a.  Actually I am not sure if he is really broke he could be living off the money he made from Menuedo, the boy band that wouldn't die, as well.  Could there have been a more annoying song?  I am sure there are others but this one popped into my head first.  Then it came back to haunt us again in the guise of William Hung.  Please Ricky go away Enrique is cuter!

Anyway that is my list for now I am sure you wonderful folks (Scooter told me to say wonderful, gorgeous and fabulous, so I guess I just did) can come up with more.  Again no offense to the artists or their fans they made the money I didn’t plus they could probably sing about taking a crap and we would by it (or at least download it).  But as time marches on music tastes change, it is only when we look back that we realize this change and go “please tell me I didn’t really like that song”.  We did it in the 80s, we did it in the 90s and we still do it now.  So how many of you can really say you still don’t know all the words to Karma Chameleon? Stop singing Scoot….

WTOS IN WAUKEGAN: YOUTHFUL MALE CUTTING IMPLEMENT, PART ONE (Expanded, now with pictures!)

Oi!

I's got music for da peoples today!

That right there, is the logo of Shonen Knife (少年ナイフ or Shonen Naifu in Japanese--literally "Boy Knife")       .

If you've never heard of them, there's really only one way I can think to describe them: Remember the origin story for The Power Puff Girls? Sure ya do! Well, imagine if after adding Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice, instead of Chemical X, Professor Utonium tossed in a copy of the 1978 Ramones LP Road To Ruin.

Instead of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup--you'd get Naoko, Atsuko, and Michie. (and later Etsuko, Ritsuko, and Emi)

Not a J-Pop band (nothing against J-Pop), SK (occasionally known as the Osaka Ramones) put a distinctively Japanese spin on American Old-School East-Coast Punk...The driving guitars and infectious, bare-bones rhythms are there--but the lyrics are about food, cats, bicycles, fish, candy, and rocketships...To describe the band in their own unique terms, they are--and I quote: "oo-oo-ultra-eccentric-super-cult-punk-pop-band-shonen-knife!"

Imagine if someone put Hello Kitty and Iggy Pop in the Brundlefly machine....

That's the original line-up: Michie Nakatani (Bass, left), Naoko Yamano (Guitar and vocals, center), and her sister: Atsuko Yamano (Drums, right). The photo is circa 1994. Here they are in 2009:

The line-up changed over the years (They formed in 1981, but were all but unknown stateside until '85--and didn't get a deal with a major label until 1992) Michie left the band in '99, Atsuko moved to bass, and Etsuko "Ettchan" Nakanishi became the new drummer (left, short hair) when temporary drummer, Mana Nishiura (not pictured), left the band in '04 (Tragically, Mana died a year later in an automobile accident while touring with Japanese Metal band DMBQ). In 2006, Atsuko quit the band after marrying and moving to L.A. (though she still plays whenever SK is in town) Touring bassist Ritsuko Taneda was then promoted to full member (Right, long hair). Naoko Yamano (center, duh) is the only founding member to have stayed with the band for its full 30 year lifespan (and one can't deny: she's remarkably well-preserved for a woman who'll be 51 this year!)

This lineup was maintained until last year, when Etsuko left (what is it about drummers?) and was replaced by Emi Morimoto (left, ponytail):

(EDITOR'S NOTE: It was 4 in the freakin' morning when I posted this originally--so it was a bit sparse. Thought I'd go back and juice it up a bit...Sorry for any inconvenience!)

Anyway, they're wonderful, magnificent, and adorable...Here in the States they've never had the success they deserved, and are best known as Kurt Cobain's favorite band:

Cobain sought them out after falling in love with their 1983 cassette, Burning Farm, which he first heard about when it was picked up by the indie label K records. (Later, Shonen Knife would also be distributed by the legendary grunge label SubPop) Amusingly, SK not only had no clue who Nirvana was, but also were a little afraid of Cobain and his cohorts. Later, Naoko would describe him as "very nice, but quiet".

SK became one of those bands that audiences didn't know (American audiences, at least), but other musicians loved...In 1989, a compilation album of SK covers by many of the biggest alternative acts of the late 80s and early 90s called Every Band Has A Shonen Knife That Loves Them was released. 20 bands contributed songs.

Bah! Time for me to stop wasting your time with mere words... hit the jump!

A serious note before you do: Our thoughts are with the people of Japan as they struggle to recover from the recent 8.9 magnitude Earthquake and the following Tsunami. Anyone wishing to assist can do so at http://www.redcross.org/

This is Tomato Head off of 1994's Rock Animals, probably the best known SK video in the States due to its appearance on Beavis and Butt-Head...FYI, this is about as "Dark" as Shonen Knife gets.

Here's a fan-made video for I Am A Cat from 1991's Let's Knife, SK's major-label debut. It's also my favorite SK tune, and may be the cutest thing ever to rise from the hand of man (3 words: SAMURAI. PIZZA. CATS!!!)

I'll have more videos for you folks soon, but I'll end tonight on a strong note with this vid for the title-track to 2009's Super Group. I Am A Cat may be my favorite song, but this is my favorite SK video by far! And try to wrap your head around this: The lead singer, Naoko Yamano, was 49 when she made this video...That's a 49 year old woman!

You always hear about how the Japanese are so much healthier than Westerners...How much more proof do you need?XD

More Knifey Goodness to come! I leave you with some lovely pictures of Ettchan:

THERE IS A GOD, AND HE LOVES GEEKS!!

My Brothers and Sisters!

THIS...FUCKING THIS!!!!

K, few days back Topless Robot posted the new trailer for the zombie game Dead Island, it's brilliant and harrowing and impressive even to a guy like me who'd be perfectly happy to never play a game with cut-scenes in it again for the rest of his life.

Then tonight, I found this on Twitter....and....well, just watch--I simply can't do a thing of such beauty and majesty justice with tools as vulgar as mere words:

Ever wonder if this is the site for you? Ever wonder if you're REALLY a member of our target audience? Well, just answer one simple question and you'll know: Is this the most tremendous achievement in the history of humanity--dwarfing the Pyramids, the wheel, the Theory of Relativity, sliced bread, and Teflon all combined?

If your answer is anything but "Fuck Yes!" Then it was very nice to meet you and I hope you can find a blog more suitable to your proclivities.

Night night!

Scoot of the Dead

(message from THE FUTURE: I can't help but be a little pleased with myself that this isn't something I found out about on TR--this is something TR found out about FROM ME...ok, I should calm down...Rob would've seen it eventually--he follows all the same Twitter feeds I do....But still....^_^b)

MERRY CHRISTMAS! YA BASTARDS!

HO FREAKIN' HO!

Hmm...looks like I CAN still do jump breaks--I just have to post with my crappy old Yahoo account that cuts me off from my dear ones on Google chat when I use it. Merry Christmas and Suck my Balls, Blogger!

So here's the dealio: I don't have jack shit to do for the Holidays--so I'm taking advantage of my solitary misery for the benefit of you lucky peoples, who, gods willing, will be spending this Yuletide with your RL friends and loved ones.

Over the next three days I'll be posting various holiday related articles and content for you and your families' Christmas enjoyment--all I ask is that you remember me in your prayers to Santa.

Tonight, I'll once again be attempting a Youtube "Simulcast" of an MST3K holiday classic--a Mexican import more horrific than Montezuma's Revenge: K. Gordon Murray's production of "Santa Claus"!

Some of you may wonder why I don't go with the more traditional "Santa Claus Conquers The Martians"? Well, bad as that film is, and hilarious as the episode is, I always found this one to be a few notches above it on the WTF-o-meter. Come on! Santa lives in a castle in space, forces kidnapped children from around the world to make his toys and sing festive native songs on command, works with Merlin the Wizard, carries potent narcotics in a little pouch on his belt, and battles Satan one-on-one! (and I won't even get into the demonic wind-up reindeer!) Ok, granted, there's no lame-ass cardboard robot--but in every other way, this film is a superior romp in the jolliest circle of Hell.

The festivities begin at 7PM EST (I'm in Central, sure, but most of my audience seems to be further east)

If you're uncertain how to find this chunk of Christmas Crapcake--either search for "mst3k santa claus" at youtube itself, or go to my youtube channel (see link list on sidebar) and check the favorites.

We'll (assuming anyone shows) be chatting live in the comments section as we watch--Join us for some hilarious, disturbing, Holiday cheer!

I'll be back with more Christmassy goodness as I said, for now--here's a taste of the aforementioned film. It's not an MST3K bit, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to find the creator of this work of genius and bear his/her children.

Until tonight!

SCOOTER'S DIVAS: SCOUT--THE NEW 2011 MODEL!

What's goin' down?

My Zombie List is up on TR. Give it a gander when you can spare a moment.

But right now, I'm honored to present the newest addition to the ranks of Scooter's Divas: longtime TTOS regular Scout!(Topless Roboteers may recognize her as that untypable "9" symbol)

Her Diva is special for two important reasons:

1. She's the first Diva I've made using the new Smackdown vs. Raw 2011.

2. I'm not really one for bragging, but she's not only the newest of Scooter's Divas--she's also Scooter's Girl!<3 (pause for long "awwwwww")

Now before I introduce her, I wanna take a moment to grouse about the new game. When games such as this are updated, why do the designers feel the need to completely revamp the controls? It's essentially the same game--it looks better, and has some more options, but it's still wrestlers wrestling!

You waste hours on a game learning the controls to the point that you can execute the most complex moves blindfolded, and they come out with basically the same game with a new paint job, AND YOU HAVE TO START ALL THE FUCK OVER AGAIN!

Granted, a lot of the controls are the same or similar to the old game, but that only makes it worse--I keep playing as though I know what I'm doing, and for a little while it works...Then all of a sudden, the buttons I'm pressing aren't doing what I've conditioned myself to believe they should do!

Pisses me off--must these people fix what ain't broken?

Ok, back to the show!

Here's my Scout pre-Divolution:

Gotta love a girl with a Power Glove! <3

This time I picked the outfits rather than taking requests--I'll have more pics of this one later, I tried doing this one with pink skin, but it photographed badly. So I'm left with only one serviceable pic after I went back to human skin tones. Ladies and gentlemen: the Succubus!

Next is an old favorite--the cat suit! Unfortunately, all they have is ears, no tails. Feast your eyes:

This one is probably my favorite!

Next is something I came up with pretty much out of the blue--in nerd terms, imagine a cross between Harley Quinn and Zatanna:

sorry about all that glare!

And finally, another classic--the S&M Leather Girl. This one, frankly, disappointed me somewhat. Oh, she looks great, but a lot of the options which would have made this outfit ten times sexier were removed from this version of the game. Oh well.

Scout asked for the eyepatch--no idea why, but I aim to please! :)

And finally, here's her entrance vid. Sound is for shit, so you'll have to crank it up a bit. Eventually I'll have a match vid like I do for the others, I just have to figure out how to make one with the new game.

See ya 'round!

WTOS IN WAUKEGAN: MUZIK WHUT SKOOTER LISSEN TU

Um..That thing that Colleen just said? That.

So my roommates are off Thanksgivinging with their family, and I'm here by my lonesome, watching the MythBusters Marathon(nerdiest of the many available marathons on cable today), and trying to come up with something to write so as to make relatively constructive use of my day.

(I also seem to be developing some weird variation of Dyslexia--I keep having to re-edit what I write and remove improperly placed spaces, and capitalize or uncapitalize letters. It's darned unsettling)

I was going to write a long overdue new entry in my long-running series: A FIELD GUIDE TO COMMON FANFIC AUTHORS. Folks seem to like that. But re-reading the fics that my new entry addresses was too depressing for what is ostensibly a holiday, so I thought I'd instead share with you peoples some music. I'll do the field guide tomorrow--it'll be a nice accent to Abraxas' planned nugget of FF joy.

That's right! The Destroyer himself will be filling the void left by Mr. Bricken's holiday break and bringing us a fic!

Ok, on with the show!

I pulled five of my favorite videos from my Youtube channel for to share with you (those that aren't DEVO, that is--they get their own articles, as you've seen). I'd be quite surprised if many of you were familiar with these songs or even have heard of these bands: That's ok, I'm used to it.

On the other hand, I am playing to an international community here--three of the bands I'll be featuring, though they never amounted to much stateside, were (and for all I know, still are) pretty well-known in England, and another had a respectable following in their native Ireland.

Understand, I'm not writing the bios of these groups here--rather, my intention is to share a bit of the soundtrack of my misspent youth(not that my adulthood is particularly well spent, but I digress)

This is the music I first got into at the age of 12. Now, unless teenagers have changed drastically in 20 years, High School and Junior High kids tend to form cliques around their shared musical tastes: The Metalheads over here, the Rap/Hip-Hop fans over there, The Pop/Top 40 crowd elsewhere, and so forth.

But the time period I'm concerned with (circa 1989-1990) was a transitional phase for Rock music: Punk and New Wave were all but dead as popular movements, and Alternative (which the music I love would eventually be lumped in with, justly or not) had yet to emerge. In between was a short lived movement known alternately as Post Modern or Post Punk, or simply Modern Rock. Often, such music would be described simply by citing where it was most commonly played and called "College Radio".

This was, and to a great extent still is, my music.

Now I don't mean to imply that back then this music didn't have a following, or that such fans were absent from my community. They were there, but I was a hundredfold shyer at this period in my life than I am now, and I never had the nerve to introduce myself to this crowd and share my music with those who could appreciate it. My own circle of friends were either Metalheads,  indifferent to music, or listened to whatever was popular.

I didn't meet people who really shared my musical tastes until after High School--and the few I knew during my school years were much older and outside of school.

I used to hate it when a friendly, well-meaning individual would ask me what I listen to--often I'd try to change the subject as I was so weary of the blank stares I'd get when listing my favorite bands. It got worse in the mid-90s: I could've simply told people I was into Alternative, but that meaningless umbrella term encompassed a great deal of music I found abhorrent--and I had no real interest in explaining how the music I liked was different.

What's the point of this rambling? Music has always been, for me, an intensely personal and solitary pursuit. I just wanted that understood before I presented my selections.

I wanted it known to all what these songs mean to me--They're not simply entertainment, they are dear old friends.

Come with me and meet them, after the jump...

(off-topic note: after several months with no reply from her site, I've decided to post THE CATHEDRAL OF YAYA. If asked to by her I'll certainly take it down, but seeing how I'm not making any kind of profit from posting her images, I really don't think she'd mind--somehow I doubt every site that's posted her pics has gotten her express permission. So feel free to visit and worship Divine Grace made Flesh)

We'll start with "For Love", by British Shoegazing outfit Lush ("Shoegazing" being a term for a short lived subgenre so-called for its extensive use of effects pedals, resulting in guitarists spending a lot of time looking down at their shoes) the only thing more gorgeous than the song are they who sing and perform it:

That's Miki Berenyi and Emma Anderson--they look even better in the video (how can a nerd not melt at the sight of a smokin' hot half-Japanese British girl with dyed hair?)

Next is "Sensitize" by the oddly named That Petrol Emotion. This is one of the most upbeat tunes I've ever heard, and a guaranteed mood-lifter.

Here's what an Irish band NOT run by a self-important douche sounds like:

Guadacanal Diary is the only American band I'm featuring today. A relatively unknown group, they were part of a critically accclaimed, if not commercially successful movement of Modern Rock acts from the American South. They hail from Athens, Georgia--a college town known to music buffs as the home of REM and the B-52's. This is probably their most well-known tune--and a really nifty video: "Always Saturday"

This one, "You Keep It All In" by The Beautiful South, another Brit act, was off probably the last cassette tape I ever purchased--1990's "Welcome To The Beautiful South"(though I bought it a decade later on clearance--best quarter I ever spent!). The album, and this song in particular, is catchy as hell and features some of the cleverest and most darkly humourous songwriting I've ever heard.

And finally, one more Anglo outfit: The Primitives with "Secrets". Sort of a poppier, British version of Blondie, The Primitives were a fixture on the UK charts--but never quite made it in the colonies, all they're really remembered for over here is the song "Crash" as it was featured on the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack. This is another of my personal feel-good tunes, and if the song itself wasn't enough to perk up my spirits--gazing upon lead singer Tracy Tracy and sighing certainly helps:

(sigh)

I was born in the wrong country--I so very much should've been British!

Ok, that's about enough for one day--time to go figure out what I'm gonna be eating tonight.

And Remember: 7:00 PM Central Standard Time, Tonight: MST3K Night of the Blood Beast--Turkey Day Edition! Be there! find it at my youtube channel in the Favorites, then come to the blog for chat and commentary.

See ya there

ROBBIE DIVOLVED: MY ARMY GROWS!

Como Vai?

Once again, a faithful SOHB reader has granted me permission to transform her into a kickass WWE Digital Diva!(mark this day--it's likely the last time you'll see the initials "SOHB" used here)

This one's been a long time in the works. Those of you not amongst the ranks of the Superfriends, or who don't post on Topless Robot, probably don't know our Robbie very well. She is listed under "THOSE RESPONSIBLE" as a contributing author--but she's also a grad student working on her dissertation, and a full-time teacher. Ergo, she hasn't yet been able to share anything with us--we all eagerly await her contribution to my little blog.

So, for those amongst you who haven't had the pleasure--meet Roberta Leopoldino:

She's a very lovely girl--but a bit shy. I was granted the honor of a better picture(which is now my cell phone wallpaper), but I'll respect her modesty(though it baffles me) and stick with this one from her Blogger Profile. I'd rather not make the assumption that the pic I was sent was intended for public display(besides, she's got the same hairdo in this pic as I gave her Diva).

Robbie was technically the very first Superfriend--the first TR poster that I began corresponding with outside of that website, months before my blog became Topless Robot's de facto chat satellite. She was also one of the first people to sign up as a Follower. I don't think there's a single regular who's been with me as long as she has.

As I mentioned, she's a grad student and teacher. She studies English Literature and teaches English as a second language in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil--and works harder than any sane human should.

She is, of course, a Nerd of the highest order--getting to know her has actually made me appreciate being an American Nerd: So many geek essentials we take for granted here are either completely unavailable, or exceedingly rare in Brazil.

Bottom line: She's a brilliant, charming, and beautiful person--and I am a better man for knowing her.

Ok--I've embarrassed her enough: On with the Divolution!

Robbie's Diva is unique. The other two represent my attempt to approximate the requests of my subjects--Coleen and Joltess picked their own costumes, and I did my best to recreate them within the limits of Smackdown Vs. Raw 2010.

In Robbie's case, she granted me leave to choose her costumes--so this is all my creation, both in concept and execution. There is one exception--a Diva can have up to 4 outfits, and I was stumped on the last one. So I put the question to the assembled Superfriends, and dear Myriam made us all look like fools by suggesting the classic Hot Librarian. Everyone chatting that night felt like grade A morons. I mean really--what else do you give an English Lit scholar?

Oh, and for her Diva, I've decided to use the Portuguese diminutive of Roberta: "Beta". Not only have I always liked the sound of it, it also works very well as a Diva name, what with the long and illustrious roster of famous Divas with single names ending in "A": Lita, Layla, Chyna, Natalya, Melina, Maria, etc.

I'll start with the first outfit I made--it's pretty simple, in fact, it wouldn't be out of place at an actual match. All that really sets it apart is the Brazilian color scheme of yellow and green(I'dve put a flag on it--but Brazilian flags were not an available option)

Sorry about the pic quality--wish I didn't have to get these by photographing the TV.

Next is your basic Goth chick ensemble--you could probably find most of the pieces of this outfit at your local Hot Topic.

I had trouble with the third outfit. Robbie's something of an Anime fan, and even though it's not my scene, I live to serve the patrons of my Art.

Originally I made a Japanese schoolgirl-type costume, but it frankly bored me--it's been done to death, even by me on some of my original creations. So instead I went more of the warrior/martial artist route--and I'm rather proud of what I came up with: I call it "The Red Dragon"

This also will be the outfit featured in the video below.

Finally, we have the aforementioned Librarian:

But that's just the entrance attire--who'd want to wrestle in a pleated skirt and blazer? It'd be hot and constrictive, right? Fortunately, she's got this on underneath(and I swear--I was merely thinking of convenience and comfort here, no other considerations whatsoever!  ;) )

Here's Librarian Beta making her way to the ring:

And now, let's all watch as Beta gives one of my earlier creations--evil imp Hellion--an unholy beatdown:

Oh, I almost forgot--one other thing this game allows you to do is create your own custom-made finishing moves, so I made one for Colleen, Joltess, and Robbie(I'll have videos for the other two soon).

Watch as Beta performs The Rio Guillotine on her hapless opponent(about halfway through the clip).

There ya go folks, hoped you enjoyed this as much as I did. :)

Stay tuned for the rechristening of the blog--coming soon!

MY NEWEST CREATION: OUR COLLEEN IS NOW DIVOLVED!

Hey kids,

It took a lot longer than I anticipated, but at long last, SOHB contributor Colleen Seelke has successfully been made into an ass-kicking, name-taking Digital Diva!

Right, let's take a look at what we started with:

Colleen was a perfect candidate for Divolution. Not only is she cute, she's also 5' 9" and could probably kick my Shire-folk ass in about 5 minutes. Add to that a forceful personality and extreme verbosity, and we have optimum WWE material.

So let's take a look at the outfits Colleen will be kicking virtual ass in:

The request was for something Xena-esque, though the end product looks more Red Sonja-ish. Sorry it's so blurry--best I could do. Here's a close up shot:

And one in a fighting pose:

Next up is an attempt at something resembling Karla, the Grey Witch from Lodoss War. I've never seen the show, and there isn't a single pic of her online that shows more than her head, so I had to improvise:

I kinda like what I came up with, and for some reason, the camera is in love with this outfit, so there are more pics of it than of any other.

Again, sorry for the blurriness. Had to stand back to get the whole outfit in frame.

Hopefully, future editions of this game will fix the glitch that makes a character's hair phase through the collar like that.

Below are a few capeless shots:

Moving on, we have what by all rights should have been the simplest request to fill: a blue Star Trek: The Original Series uniform.

Sounds easy enough--well, this is the best I could do:

The brightness of the costume made it very difficult to photograph, I couldn't do the black collar or the gold rank stripes in the sleeves, and the Starfleet insignia is totally improvised.

Finally, I did my take on Baroness. This one actually turned out great--I'm more than a little proud of it. Unfortunately, photo-wise black is even tougher to work with than bright blue, the contrast made her face into a white blur--observe:

The good news is I've got two videos of her in this outfit, so you lucky people will all get a really good look.

First we have the entrance, I did the whole thing, not just Colleen's part, so be patient with the pauses.

I put her against my zombie Diva: Cassandra Graves. I figure by putting a Baroness cosplayer in a match with a zombie, I have irrevocably Nerdified the WWE.

And the main event:

So, that's my masterpiece. I hope everybody enjoyed it--and Colleen: I hope I did you justice.

Remember, I'm always taking requests for custom Divolutions, leave a message in the comments and we'll talk about it.
